Dear Central Baseball Alum/Supporter, October 21, 2021
Greetings! I hope all is well with you and your family. Your kind donations in the past have been crucial in helping us continue our efforts to improve the program. Despite a challenging year with COVID protocols, the 2021 baseball Maroons had a successful season compiling a 23-10 record. The Varsity finished 2nd in the always competitive Big 12 Conference to champion Normal Community while the JV team also posted a winning record. What is more, Central won its 4th regional title in the past seven seasons. Thanks again for your financial support. We couldn't have accomplished great things on the diamond without you. Your generosity is an essential part of our program's success. Thanks for your continued support of Champaign Central baseball.
Because of the financial help of our alumni and supporters, new baseball pants were purchased for all the players in the program. Your donations were also used to rent an indoor facility for winter workouts as well as purchasing needed equipment to help our players prepare for the season. We are proud of 2021 graduate Ben Dickerson (Kankakee Community College) as he moves on to continue his playing career in part, because of your generosity. Moreover, 2022 grads Carter Hall (Morton College), Jake Munroe (John A. Logan) and Will O'Gorman (Parkland) each recently committed to play college baseball. We wish them all the best as they pursue their love of baseball at the next level!
The 2022 season is set to begin February 28. Our Unit 4 budget for the program this season is only $850. This alone will not cover the cost of baseballs needed for each of our three teams during the season. With your continued support, we would like to again purchase a new uniform, sweatshirt, t-shirt and short for every player in the program. Revenue will also be used to send our coaching staff to the ABCA convention in Chicago in January. We would also like to begin some capital improvement projects this season. We are currently adding three practice bullpen mounds next to our practice field. Further, we are looking to improve the playing surface of our practice field. We would also like to implement lights in our batting cages and add lighting to our bullpen areas on our game field. These are a few of the projects we would like to complete in the near future.
Our student-athletes will be working hard to raise money for the program. We will again attempt to generate much-needed revenue through our annual leaf-raking venture this fall. Additionally, our players will soon sell raffle tickets during the winter months in advance of our Triple Play fundraiser. Details about this event will soon be posted on our social media platforms. We hope to broadcast the event live on our Facebook page. If you are able, please join us at the City Center (Formerly Fat City) on Monday, January 24 for a fun night of trivia, euchre, and to bid on auction items. Former Central and U of I football great J Leman will MC the event. Moreover, we plan to recognize any alum who is in attendance at the 31st annual Charlie Due Tournament (April 16) and/or our home game against Urbana (May 12).
With your continued financial support, we can better provide our players with the things they need to make their baseball experience here at CHS a rewarding one. If you are able, please think of us again this year. Whether you contact us to rake your yard, buy a raffle ticket, bid on auction items, purchase a fence banner, or simply donate to the program, we appreciate your support of Champaign Central Baseball! Take care and GO MAROONS!
